Brian Smith's workshop in Warkworth

The attached is a collage that I made on the weekend.  It was in Warkwarth at Brian Smith's workshop on  PORTRAITURE - Representation to Abstraction.  See the face? We started with a sketch of a live model (below) and abstracted it as a collage (above).  I am still experimenting with the painting... I will post it when its done. I highly suggest taking a workshop run by Brian. This is the 3rd workshop that I have attended. There are also books and DVDs by him available. He is an excellent artist, he is funny and entertaining and you will learn a lot. Check out his web site   www.drawn2life.com See Brian at work below :) A very special thanks to Spirit of the Hills, all the volunteers and, specifically,  Diane Arsenault for a great weekend :)  www.spiritofthehills.org

A Great Day :)

This is a photo of one of my niece, Danna.  After the show on Saturday she decided  to pick up a paint brush and get to work!  I'm proud to be a positive influence for young artists. Hopefully we will be able to see her creations in a gallery in the near future.

Last night the painting Red Shoes was picked up from El Camino by her new owner, Doug. Therefore, Red Shoes will not be at Moments & Destinations Art Show on Saturday.  Steven Sherman (owner of El Camino), Me, Doug Auer (New owner of Red Shoes), Carrie Severn (Inspiration for Red Shoes)
